Generative artificial intelligence is also finding its way into the areas of tourism, leisure and experiences and offers excellent opportunities for tourists and visitors.

PortAventura World has announced the launch of Pawla, a new GenAI tool that the company hopes will enhance the visitor experience at its facilities and parks.

Pawla is a chatbot capable of understanding and answering any questions, making recommendations and guiding visitors.

Its main advantage is its ease of use, as it conducts a dialog in natural language to accompany the user in the different phases of their stay, from the initial search for opening dates or hotel options from home, to displaying schedules or information about the attractions when they are already in the park.

As Pawla is adaptive, it can adapt to the individual needs of each visitor. Pawla can respond in different languages, including Spanish, Catalan, English and French.

This assistant was developed using GPT technology from artificial intelligence giant OpenAI. In the future, it could also feature speech recognition and interaction.

Behind the development is the team from Adventure Labs, PortAventura World's innovation center.

Much more than just a chatbot

As the digital director of PortAventura World, Andreu Torralba, explains in a press release, Pawla is set to become "much more than a virtual assistant"

"We want Pawla to improve our visitors' experience and make their stay easier so that all they have to do is enjoy the resort and its attractions, shows, restaurants and stores," explains Torralba.

Torralba affirms that Pawla is the result of "the intense work that PortAventura World's innovation department and digital area are doing to revolutionize the entertainment industry and put us at the forefront, with a focus on new generations and the application of cutting-edge technologies."

The company assures us that it has taken strict measures to minimize bias, inappropriate comments and behavior and to ensure safe and respectful interaction.

The chatbot is hosted on the company's mobile app and complements its services and information. The app is available free of charge for both Android and iOS smartphones.
