We are in a historic moment in technology because, for the first time, three distinct technological paradigms are coexisting: classical computing, quantum computing, and Artificial Intelligence." This was the welcoming remark from Horacio Morell, President of IBM for Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Israel, as he addressed an audience of about a thousand business and technology professionals at the annual IBM Think event.

Held at La Caja Mágica in Madrid, the event offered practical insights into how businesses can use AI to transform or optimize their operations. It also provided a platform for reflection on the present and future of AI and hybrid cloud technologies.

"Advancing the development of these three technologies to work together will allow us as a society to solve great challenges that have been unsolvable until now," Morell emphasized. Following his speech, Kareem Yusuf, Senior Vice President of Product Management and Growth at IBM Software, took the stage. Yusuf stressed how AI and hybrid cloud can provide a qualitative leap for businesses based on three principles: understanding which AI you are working with and how the data provided to the tool is being used; flexibility in the use of AI models; and openness, encapsulated in his remark, "more eyes on the product, more heads on the problem, and more hands on the solution."

Enterprise Solutions Stands

In addition to discussions with experts and representatives from companies such as Santander, Telefónica, Cajamar, Endesa, Iberdrola, and McKinsey, attendees had the opportunity to delve into AI and automation solutions, as well as new use cases. Among these were a range of IBM products aimed at business transformation.

The event highlighted the critical importance of integrating classical computing, quantum computing, and AI, illustrating how these technologies together can unlock new potentials and solve previously insurmountable problems. The convergence of these technologies promises not only to revolutionize businesses but also to address broader societal challenges.

Highlighted Technologies and Initiatives:

Watsonx.governance: A component of Watsonx based on large language models dedicated to governance, enabling accelerated responsibility, transparency, and applicability in data and AI workflows.

IBM Concert: A new AI-powered automation platform for managing business operations and applications. It allows companies to understand their application environment and discover connections, dependencies, gaps, and opportunities in their architecture. It functions as a collaborative tool designed for teams working on complex projects.

InstructLab: An open-source and collaborative initiative by IBM and RedHat aimed at improving the development of Large Language Models (LLMs), as well as the new IBM Granite models, specifically designed for enterprises to help ensure trust and scalability in AI-driven applications.

Quantum Safe: A suite of tools and resources capable of solving previously unsolvable business or scientific problems but presenting security risks. This toolset is designed to withstand quantum computing challenges.
