Artificial intelligence has found its way into human resources. Long before the wave of generative AI, there were already technological tools that were of great help to organizations and institutions in managing various aspects of their human resources or in attracting talent.

Spain has some 'champions' in this field. There are some emerging companies that have developed innovations in this field and have already earned the trust of large companies inside and outside our country.

In this list, we present some of the most outstanding Spanish startups in the field of AI for HR:

-Factorial: it is one of the most appreciated domestic startups. After closing a Series C funding round of 120 million dollars at the end of 2022, the company became a 'unicorn'. At the end of last year, Factorial acquired Madrid-based startup Fuell, which focuses on improving corporate spend for SMEs.

Factorial offers cloud-based solutions for HR management. Its platform integrates tools for payroll, attendance control, leave management and other important functions for the HR department. Using artificial intelligence and data analytics, Factorial provides companies with valuable information to optimize the management of their employees and improve their performance.

- TalentClue: recruitment software that allows companies to automate the selection process by publishing vacancies directly on the Internet, social networks and job portals and receiving all applicants in one place to manage them.

The company has been a pioneer in the HR tech industry since it was founded more than a decade ago. Its origins lie in SNTalent, a headhunting company founded in Barcelona in 2009.

- Zapiens: is an Asturian startup that was originally founded in 2015 under the name Blunder. Its founder and CEO is Daniel Sánchez.

The company defines itself as a knowledge manager in the cloud. As they explain on their website, they use artificial intelligence "to connect people, enable new training experiences and generate new knowledge and learning in organizations".

This startup is characterized by its built-in chatbot Zap, which is responsible for answering all user queries. Its goal is to help teams share knowledge and help companies manage it.

This AI learns over time to answer queries accurately and is able to find the person who has the answers within a company when the tool cannot provide them.

Zapiens motivates employees through gamification by awarding them medals or including them in leaderboards.

Its customers include major companies such as Microsoft, Vodafone, Ikea, Sacyr, Wurth, Hyundai, Santander, ArcelorMittal, Audi, Loreal, Siemens and Telefónica. More than 95,000 employees have already placed their trust in the company's technology.

- Erudit: A project founded in 2019 and based in Madrid, in which Wayra and Bolsa Social, among others, are investing.

It has an AI-powered platform for HR managers to track, measure and manage cultural impact and improve the employee experience.

In addition, Erudit provides anonymous, aggregated views and insights into the workforce that can help HR managers make data-driven decisions. The goal is to have an "empowered workforce"

Erudit has worked with companies such as Google, Deloitte and KPMG.

- Tramitapp: Founded in 2016, this Spanish HR tech company has developed HR and time management software based on artificial intelligence.

The program offers time control, electronic signature, payroll, ticket and expense management, shift planning, absence and leave management and internal communication support.

Smart Planner is an important tool for calculating hourly balances, managing rotating shifts or coordinating employees between different centers.

More than 1,500 companies have used the tool to date.

- Taalentfy: A Malaga-based company that operates in Spain and Latin America and was founded in 2016. It has a SaaS platform for talent management and selection that works with artificial intelligence.

Through self-developed algorithms, the platform learns the behavior of users and companies to understand their interests and needs.

It can also use machine learning to calculate the percentage of affinity between users and offers. Its recommendation algorithms automatically display the best talents, job offers or content.

Taalentfy helps companies, universities, business schools and public institutions to improve their HR management processes and tools.

- Genius AI: a tool designed for freelance recruiters as well as recruitment agencies and consultancies. On their website, they claim that they can reduce recruitment costs by 80% and increase the average turnover of each consultant/recruiter by 20%.

Genius AI automates the tracking of business agreements and processes, centralizes communication with clients and candidates, and uses this information to provide personalized recommendations to optimize the management of each account.

The company was founded last year and is based in Barcelona. Its annual plans range from €2,300 to €35,000, depending on customer size and customization.

- Opground: This startup with a recruitment software makes it possible to streamline and simplify the recruitment process for companies and recruiters thanks to artificial intelligence.

Opground promises applicants with technical profiles that through a single conversation with its chatbot Opi, it is as if they are being interviewed by more than 900 companies. What's more, they can remain anonymous until they choose to do so.

On the other hand, there is Opi The Coach, an intelligent system that analyzes all the information about a job interview with regard to vacancies on the market that match candidates' preferences.

The company is based in Manresa (Barcelona) and was founded in 2020.

- Nova Hiring: A Barcelona-based startup with an AI model that automates job interviews and analyzes candidates, reducing the workload of recruiters.

Thanks to the models, companies and recruiters can create a personalized job interview in just a few minutes and incorporate requirements such as years of experience, preferences, etc. The advantage for candidates is flexibility, as they can carry out this first phase of the selection process when and where they want.

- Iellow: This company from Guipuzcoa was founded in 2022. The startup has developed a platform for virtual job interviews and ATS solutions based on artificial intelligence.

Its tool offers the possibility of conducting job interviews based on natural language processing (NLP) that analyzes the skills of professionals.

Through a system of algorithms and AI, Iellow automatically identifies the profiles that best match the positions.
