In a unique intersection between the legal and technology fields, German startup Xayn and law firm CMS have collaborated to create Noxtua, a 100% European artificial intelligence tool. With this, the companies aim to offer legal professionals a safe and efficient way to use AI to support their activity.

A giant step forward for European AI

Noxtua stands out for two major reasons: the fact that it is one of the few fully European AI tools and that it has the backing of one of the continent's leading law firms. As such, the application has a proprietary language model focused on the legal world, with the ability to analyze and summarize legal documents according to each firm's guidelines.

The collaboration between Xayn and CMS is a perfect amalgam of technological prowess and legal acumen. Xayn, which emerged from a research project at Oxford University and Imperial College London in 2017, brings expertise in developing AI solutions in Europe. The CMS law firm, which also has German origins, brings its legal expertise and experience in technology law. This partnership ensures that Noxtua is not only relevant in practice, but also meets the high standards of confidentiality and data protection necessary for legal practice.

Multilingual support and other expansions

One of Noxtua's key features is its multilingual capability, currently focused on German and English. Although this feature is also being tested with large companies in Germany, Japan, United Arab Emirates and other countries, highlighting Noxtua's potential for global impact. The model is learning quickly with data from hundreds of legal documents that will lead to the implementation of new functionality.

Going forward, Xayn and CMS plan to further develop Noxtua, exploring practical applications for everyday legal work beyond the current chat functionality. In addition, they intend to partner with other major technology and law firms to expand the capabilities and scope of the tool.

As such, Noxtua represents a fundamental breakthrough in legal technology, merging the expertise of AI developers and legal professionals to create an efficient and European-compliant tool. As the first legal AI entirely from Europe, it sets a new benchmark for innovation in the field, promising to revolutionize legal work and setting a precedent for future technological advances.
