In Spain alone, more than 47% of students use private tutors to complete their secondary and high school education, which represents an annual investment of more than 1.7 billion euros by families according to a study by Esade. In addition, globally, 35% of students in developed countries receive private tutoring, which makes the tutoring market a sector of approximately 40 billion euros and 114 million customers.
In this context - and with the start of the new school year - Supercademy, the online educational platform that uses artificial intelligence to offer personalized tutoring, has burst onto the scene. This innovative service, designed to boost student performance and help them understand what they are studying, seeks to democratize access to private tutors through adaptive and technological teaching methods via AI.
Since its founding in 2023, the company has conducted testing with more than 1,000 students that has allowed it to fine-tune how its AI adapts to each student's needs by employing the teaching techniques that work best with each student and has been shown to significantly improve academic performance and motivation.
Supercademy helps students solve their homework independently, without directly providing the solutions. With a team with more than 30 years of experience in education, this tool is designed to complement the work of teachers by focusing on routine and repetitive tasks, thus enabling students to develop critical problem-solving skills.
To demonstrate its effectiveness, the company has enabled a free trial through which students and their families can register and explore the functionalities free of charge for 20 days, discovering how they can benefit from them in their learning. Aimed at young people from 8 to 18 years old (from 1st grade to EBAU), it provides help with homework, preparation for exams and even the EBAU, and offers language classes in English, French and German, adapting the syllabus according to the requirements of each Autonomous Community.
Juan Perteguer, founder and CEO of Supercademy, explains that "Supercademy opens a new category in the private tutoring market. Until now, solutions focused on connecting students with online teachers, offering recorded content or teaching languages, but none have managed to integrate all educational needs with the help of artificial intelligence. Supercademy brings it all together so that every student has access to a quality education, to their own 'private teacher', without cost being an impediment. Our goal is to support students not only in their academic performance, but also in their personal development, helping them to discover and reach their full potential."
The system adjusts content and exercises in real time using artificial intelligence, adapting to the responses and needs of each student. Students can interact through chat, voice or photos (students can send a photo of their homework and the platform extracts the information and helps them to solve it), and continuous learning is encouraged through a system of points that can be exchanged for rewards (for example, you can choose Taylor Swift or Leo Messi as your teacher's avatar). In addition, the service is available 24 hours a day, allowing users to learn at their own pace and at the time they prefer.
Mastering Copilot for business efficiency
Very remarkable is the tool's ability to hold conversations in English, French or German with almost no latency, as if talking to a native teacher, or its creativity in helping to understand complex math exercises in a very visual way. The students surveyed, as well as the parents who participated in the pilot project, have rated the experience and value that Supercademy brings to their academic life with an average of 9.5.
To access the service, registration is required first. Three monthly subscription plans are offered: the Single plan at €15.99, ideal for one student; the Duo plan at €25.99, suitable for two students; and the Large Family plan at €35.99, designed for three users. These plans ensure that more people can receive quality educational support without cost being an impediment for Spanish families. All plans include an unlimited private tutor in all subjects and available 24 hours a day.
Supercademy's goal during its first year is to grow and consolidate in Spain by reaching a minimum of 10,000 users and, so far, it has already attracted the interest of the Spanish impact fund BeHappy Investments, which has taken a 5% stake in the startup. However, its roadmap for 2025 includes the expansion to 3 new markets, Mexico being the first of them, with a target of 7,000 users per country.
