Artificial intelligence (AI) is omnipresent, and household appliances are no exception. LG will present its new washing machine with Artificial Intelligence Direct Drive (AI DD) 2.0 technology at IFA 2024. The new model offers a "Pet Care" wash cycle for pet owners.
LG will introduce its first 25-inch washing machine with a 16-kilogram drum capacity. It also features low-vibration technology and advanced AI to improve performance and efficiency and help consumers save on water and electricity bills thanks to the Inverter DirectDrive motor.
Lyu Jae-cheol, President of LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, said: “With the launch of our new washing machine, we are once again demonstrating how LG technologies simplify the washing process through greater capacity, personalized features and optimized efficiency.”
AI for washing
LG’s AI DD 2.0 technology uses deep learning to automatically recognize factors such as load weight, fabric sensitivity and soiling level. In combination with 6Motion technology, it selects the most suitable wash cycle, reducing damage to fabrics by 10% and extending their lifespan.
The new Pet Care program offers high-temperature washing at up to 60°C and four hot water rinses that eliminate 99% of pet odors. The machine also features TurboWash 360, which reduces wash cycles to just 39 minutes, and ezDispense, which automatically determines the amount of detergent required. The washing machine offers a total of 39 programs and automatically recalls the most frequently used programs so that the user has to spend less time with the settings.
